Deep Sleep (Mr. Something Something & Ikwunga)

Fils d’un célèbre poète de l’Afrique occidentale et Chef tribal, Ikwunga aka Abp (African American Board Certified Psychiatrist) est le premier Nigérian à mêler poésie et afro-beat, d’où son surnom de poète afrobeat.

Son second album « Deep Sleep » (Le sommeil profond), enregistré à Toronto (Canada) et paru en 2007, est réalisé avec Mr Something Something, un collectif afrobeat fondé en 2003 à Toronto, qui apporte des sonorités électriques aux morceaux très dansants. Abp Ikwunga injecte dans ses poèmes des proverbes africains et des expressions recueillies auprès des sages, le tout dit en pidgin et en anglais.
