Born Under The Heat

Enregistré le 18 novembe 1983 au studioAV-Elektronik, à Stockholm, en Suède, par Johnny Mbizo Dyani avec sept musiciens, « Born Under The Heat » se rapproche de l’esprit du groupe Ekaya d’Abdullah Ibrahim.

Moins improvisé et échevelé que ses précédents albums, cet enregistrement offre une musique plus maîtrisée et méditative où la dimension mélodique est privilégiée. Une atmosphère bien rendue dans des titres comme « Song for the Workers » et « Wish You Sunshine » où il propose un étonnant solo de piano. N’oublions pas que Johnny Dyani a d’abord appris le piano et le chant avant de découvrir la contrebasse sous l’influence du pianiste Tete Mbambiza à qui il rend hommage dans un des titres.
